Exchange Students

Since its foundation, Technische Universität Ilmenau has very intensive contacts all over the world. We have a lively exchange of students who spend part of their studies with us and then graduate from their home university. At the moment, we have more than 130 partnerships with universities on all continents. In addition, we have numerous Erasmus+ partnerships, which enable the exchange of students and lecturers throughout Europe.

We are a cosmopolitan university and therefore also welcome students from universities with which we do not have a partnership. All students are welcome to spend one or two semesters at our university as exchange students or Free Movers.

Depending on whether you come to us through the Erasmus+ programme, a university partnership, a double degree programme or as a Free Mover, different application procedures apply. On the following pages you will find all important information.

The International Student Service we4you is also at your disposal with lots of information on travelling to and arriving at TU Ilmenau and leisure activities during your stay.
