1st Summer School Green Micro- and Nanotechnologies

Last week, the first Summer School Green Micro- and Nanotechnology took place at the Center for Micro- and Nanotechnologies (ZMN) at TU Ilmenau and was a great success. From August 25 to 30, 2024, students, scientists and experts from all over Europe came together to take part in an intensive week of knowledge exchange, collaboration and cultural togetherness. In total, over 15 people took part in this event, which offered a varied program with project work, scientific lectures, a poster session and practical workshops.

Participants had the opportunity to explore advanced micro- and nanotechnology topics in depth, including sustainable materials, green electronics and energy efficiency. Thanks to the expertise of our guest speakers, there were exciting insights into current research trends. Particularly noteworthy were the guided tours of the ZMN's state-of-the-art clean rooms, where participants were not only able to learn about the latest technology, but also engage in discussions with the center's staff about further research activities.

We were particularly pleased to welcome guests from countries such as Azerbaijan, Denmark, Spain and the Czech Republic. The diverse backgrounds of our participants allowed for an intense and lively exchange of ideas and perspectives that enriched the whole experience.

In addition to the scientific program, the Summer School offered numerous opportunities for networking and cultural exchange. Highlights included a guided tour of Ilmenau's research infrastructure, a visit to X-Fab GmbH, a city tour of the state capital Erfurt and social events such as the students' barbecue and a joint dinner after the final presentations.

We are proud of the success of this year's Summer School Green Micro- and Nanotechnology and would like to thank all speakers, organizersand participants for their enthusiasm and valuable contribution.
