The Young Researcher Days at the TU Ilmenau give young adults from the 10th grade onwards the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of science and technology for an entire month

"Young Researcher Days" at TU Ilmenau: For a whole month, young adults from the 10th grade onwards have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of science and technology. From July 1 - 31, they will get to know technical and scientific fields of study and forward-looking research topics and can thus orient themselves for their own career path.

New high school graduates are often unsure about their choice of study. In order to give them guidance and reduce their uncertainty, TU Ilmenau invites them to the Young Researchers' Days from July 1 to 31 - a perfect opportunity to get inspired and learn about the diverse opportunities in the fields of science and technology. Participants will learn about modern technologies and processes that are used in many exciting scientific and professional fields and research work that addresses pressing social challenges: Climate change, renewable energy and sustainability.

As a "digital astronaut", the young researchers experience how virtual reality is used to simulate the visual and acoustic perceptions of astronauts during extravehicular activities at a space station

The Young Researchers' Days - a varied program of workshops, laboratory experiments, simulations and simulation games. In the workshop "From molecules to Lego bricks - all about the plastic cycle", the young men and women learn how research is trying to make ecological awareness a reality. As a "digital astronaut", they can really feel how virtual reality is used to simulate the visual and acoustic perceptions of astronauts on space station missions. They learn how to measure and analyze electrical signals with an oscilloscope. In the computer science workshop, they explore an "embedded system" - electronics hidden deep within an application. And in the "Pitch your Green Idea" simulation game, they play their way to a sustainable business.

Participants gain deep insights into student life and have the opportunity to talk to students on the university campus. On request, further individual program points can be organized, for example laboratory tours and appointments with the student advisory service - in the hope that they will then enrol to study at TU Ilmenau.
