Systematic analysis of genre-specific video recordings using the example of theater recordings - Automation of multi-camera recordings

On May 21, 2024, Eckhard C. Stoll successfully defended his dissertation on "Systematic analysis of genre-specific video recordings using the example of theater recordings". The reviewers were Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Raake (supervisor, Ilmenau University of Technology), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Breide (South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences, Meschede) and Univ.-Prof. Dr. phil. Heidi Krömker (Ilmenau University of Technology). The dissertation presents how multi-camera recordings of theater performances or other stage performances in a non-professional environment can be simplified and improved in the end result. High-resolution cameras are used. The long shots can be recorded with fixed cameras and the half-length shots with only slight tracking. In post-production, image sections up to close-ups are automatically cut out of these recordings and assembled into a recording according to professional rules.
