Presentation at the 51st Annual Conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) in New Zealand

Dr. Aynur Sarısakaloğlu from the Department of Media Studies at TU Ilmenau and Dr. Regina Cazzamatta from the Department of Media and Communication Studies at the University of Erfurt presented key findings from their study on AI-supported fact-checking tools in journalism at the 51st Annual Conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) on July 3, 2024, in Christchurch, New Zealand.

 

In their presentation titled “Unveiling Challenges and Potential Paths of AI-Supported Fact-Checking in Journalism Across Selected Countries: Navigating Monitoring and Verification Practices,” they provided a comprehensive overview of the development of the research field. They examined the current accessibility and use of AI-supported tools for monitoring and verifying journalistic content in eight countries. In doing so, they highlighted the potential benefits and challenges of using AI-supported fact-checking tools in newsrooms.
