All children love toys and also need them for their development. Most people can still remember their favorite toys as adults, but at some point you might also ask yourself the question: Where did it actually go, my beautiful toy from the time when I was a child?

Bernd Max Sauer also addresses this question in his lecture at the TU Ilmenau Citizens' Campus. Above all, Sauer, who worked for many years in leading positions in toy companies in the GDR and later in the East German toy industry, takes a knowledgeable and critical look at the development of the toy industry in the GDR before and especially during and after reunification. As an insider, Bernd Max Sauer has published his knowledge in two books so far, and so his lecture is also a mixture of documentation, autobiography and a little bit of personal reckoning.
