Prof Jörg Robert, Head of the Reliable Machine-to-Machine Communication department, has been a member of the IEEE 802.15 Steering Committee since May 2024.

Since May 2024, Prof. Jörg Robert, Head of the Reliable Machine-to-Machine Communication department, has been a member of the steering committee of IEEE 802.15. This standardisation committee of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) develops transmission standards for wireless communication on an international basis. These standards are now built into billions of devices. The most recent examples of this are the technology behind the Apple AirTag or systems for the smart home. A central focus of future work in IEEE 802.15 will be the reduction of power consumption, with the aim of developing systems that can be operated without environmentally harmful batteries.
