While the range and complexity of mobility data is constantly increasing, mobility planning processes are becoming more complex. At the same time, more and more stakeholders, such as citizens, mobility planners and political decision-makers, are being integrated into the process. This leads to a need for methods and technologies for the efficient and user-oriented processing of mobility data.
The project creates a new content and technical basis for using and communicating mobility data in mobility planning in a targeted manner as a mobility data story. For this purpose, the possibilities of interactive visualization and digital storytelling are combined in a Mobility Data Story Suite.
The communication of data in mobility planning processes is analyzed. Generic visualization and interaction components are developed for the user-oriented creation of mobility data stories. Guidelines for the preparation, communication and visualization of mobility data as mobility data stories are being developed. Both the visualization and interaction components and the guidelines are openly available so that they can be widely used in the mobility planning process.
The open-source, web-based Mobility Data Story Suite makes complex data interactively available to the various stakeholders using new methods, thereby improving the efficiency of mobility planning processes.
