Get a taste of the lecture hall, explore laboratories and experience Ilmenau's campus community: This year, for the first time, high school students can do all of this at the same time as the legendary "Ersti-Woche" during the Thuringian fall break. At the somewhat different taster study days at TU Ilmenau from 7 to 11 October 2024, they will receive information on all degree courses, general tips for studying and individual advice. At the second Taster Study Days from October 28 to November 2, 2024, prospective students will also have the opportunity to attend current lectures. Registration is still possible until September 29 for the first week and until October 20 for the second week.
When the introductory week for new students at TU Ilmenau starts on October 7, 2024, high school students can also immerse themselves in campus life at the university for a week on discovery tours through Ilmenau and across the university campus - and feel a bit like real "first-timers" themselves.
In lectures, individual consultations and a student information lounge, staff from the Student Advisory Service and students will be on hand to answer all questions about the university's degree courses - from engineering and computer science to mathematics and natural sciences, economics, media and communication: Which degree course suits me best? How do I organize myself in order to study successfully? How can I finance my studies? And how can I help shape a sustainable future during my studies?
Members of the university's 80 or so initiatives and clubs will also provide information about opportunities to get involved in sporting, cultural or specialist activities outside of your studies in line with your personal inclinations and interests.
In addition to the official program items, participants can also book personal consultation appointments and laboratory tours when they register for the taster study days. They then receive their individual taster study plan.
In the second week of the Taster Study Days from October 28 to November 2, 2024, the semester has already begun. During this event, pupils can attend regular lectures in addition to campus tours and consultations and apply for a leave of absence from school in advance. During both taster study weeks, it is possible to attend only individual days or events, depending on interest, time and travel time.
